What is A MasterMind?

March 4th, 2010

A few years ago I would have asked that question… In the book ‘Think and Grow Rich’ Napoleon Hill first used the term and defines what it is: “Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.”
Now there are Masterminds going on all the time and I bet that you are a part of one and you don’t even know it. Your church is a sort of mastermind for the benefit of all who are members there and their salvation, your job is a mastermind involved in providing a service and earning money for someone or some corporation, our government, a marriage, our families, any corporation, team, etc. are all masterminds.
The term was first coined for the process entrepreneurs and business owners did of putting together teams of professionals to achieve remarkable feats of industry and making money.
The process is remarkable in that you don’t have to know everything about a process, you can know nothing at all about it and hire out the knowledge, create the mastermind team and reap the benefits.
Napoleon Hill goes on to say: “no two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind”.
See much more energy is created with a mastermind. It’s like moving dirt, can a guy with a shovel and bucket move as much dirt in a day as a bulldozer and backhoe?
With a team you will achieve your goals 100x faster as long as that team is all working toward the same goal.
I can tell you I struggled for years before my first mastermind, but then when I first teamed up with other like minds toward my goal it made achieving them a snap. The first time we all came together, I had ideas, but they were going nowhere, and the others were in the same boat. So we all pooled our ideas and shot them off each other. We figured out which seemed like the best ones, and focused on those.
Now the cool part was that yes I had ideas, but when those ideas hit the light of day and others saw them, some were recognized as trash, and others-they grew and were added to by the group. The ideas of the other members of the group also went through the process and out came amazing results! The problem with trying to do it ourselves is that we are usually too limited in our scope of the world, our time and resources, but when you submit your ideas to a group committed to your success then you find people adding their ideas, their connections, and resources and asking: how can we go big with this idea?
If you look at any great enterprise, behind it is a mastermind.

I have some friends that recently created a business where you can be a part of a mastermind group either with your friends or they will add you to a new one and totally set it up for you, provide the structure, and everything to get you up and running and on your way to success.
It’s called: The Million Dollar Mastermind and they have done the work of providing the system where success is not only predictable but inevitable.

Never Give Up! Success Is Just Around The Corner

February 2nd, 2010

Never Give Up!

“Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work.” —Stephen King

I”m reminded of the story of Stephen Kings success. He’s written tons of books, has been on the New York Times Best Sellers List too many times to mention, but it wasn’t always that way…

His is a story of persistence in the face of incredibly difficult circumstances. He started out as a laundry worker earning $60 a week struggling to survive, and his wife worked nights. He had a burning desire to be a writer, so he spent his nights and weekends typing up manuscripts to send to publishers, while receiving rejection after rejection; never knowing if his work was even ever read.

Finally he received a rejection letter that was personable, stating that his work, though not good enough yet, had promise, and that he should keep at it. He continued to forward manuscripts to the friendly publisher, but to no avail.

Money got tight and at one point, they had to shut off their phone to afford medicine for their baby, all looked very bleak.

He had had enough! Thoroughly discouraged, he threw his latest manuscript in the trash. His wife, totally believing in their dreams and goals, and his skills as a writer, fished the manuscript out of the trash and sent it on to the publisher.

That book went on to sell over 5 million copies! It was made into a movie and was one of the top grossing films of the late 70’s. The Book was ‘Carrie’ of course, and the rest is history.

Now if his wife hadn’t sent that manuscript in, who knows if he would have ever succeeded. Sometimes success is just beyond your greatest failure, and we never know if that one last effort will push us over the top.

Hold the faith, keep the vision and roll up your sleeves and get to work!

Social Networking Warning!

January 29th, 2010

In my morning meditations today I was in total bliss, I also had ideas and thoughts just bursting forth. I was torn between staying in the bliss, and working on the ideas that were streaming to me.

I had thoughts of the world, the number of people suffering, the financial stresses that many of us face, and also asking myself how I may be able to help.

I’m always seeking greater connection with ‘purpose’, and so I focus on that and seek to open my heart to whatever comes. In connecting with my heart(the ancient greeks thought of the heart as the subconscious) and feeling and seeking and asking for guidance this day.

Some of what I received was the reassurance I am on the right path, and to follow my heart, to keep doing my best at sending out inspiration. I got that a big issue that many face is to keep inspired, to focus on the good, and not let their current external circumstances get them down.

Now I recently joined twitter (along with a zillion others) and what strikes me is the sheer number of people who are just throwing links out there hoping that someone will click on them and they’ll make money. I don’t know if it works for them, I think probably only marginally if at all, but if they like it so be it.

It’s an interesting thing these social networking sites, they’re supposed to be about social-networking, but many focus solely on the ‘networking’ part, and I believe it’s putting the cart before the horse.

See we all want to feel connected, loved, and a part of things, but I tell you, when I see someone just throwing out 20 tweets with nothing but affiliate links I want to run the other way!

There’s nothing interesting in that… Now the people who put out interesting thoughtful comments, I think: ‘I want to know more about this person’, ‘that post made me feel good’, ‘I want to hear more’.

Now there’s something you probably never knew about me; I can tell the future…

And here’s my latest prediction: ‘The future of internet marketing is going to be one of which people will want to know who they are dealing with and connected to before they will buy’. There I said it, you heard it here first!

So focus on being REAL first and giving the best service you can, and solving peoples problems, then later expect to get paid. Certainly there’s a place where ‘the rubber hits the road’ and you try to make money, but most likely it’ll be AFTER you make relationship with your audience.

I mean in any relationship how long is it before you get to have sex with that person? Usually there are some preliminaries-sometimes not, but USUALLY you want to get to know the person, have a meal or 2, maybe a couple dates-really get to know that person, because you may find once you do, you want nothing to do with them, OR they’re the greatest.

It’s like that with all our relationships(not necessarily the sex part). It takes time to create a good friend, to build a strong marriage, to have a large and fruitful client base.

as Zig Ziglar says: “if you help enough people get what they want, you’ll surely get what you want”.

In the end you may realize that what you are looking for are lasting relationships, not the ‘one night stand’.

So whether you’re internet marketing, selling personal services, or just about anything it’s all about being personable, letting people know who you are, and will what you have for them will increase their life experience or not.

Another thing that really seems to sell, that frankly bothers me, is the whole notion of scarcity. Marketers will tell you ‘you have to make it seem this is their only chance’. If there’s an offer that I’m the least bit unsure of, and I get the whole ‘act now before it’s too late’ I always decline. I know there’ll be something better right around the corner. I suggest you do too, because if you’re buying into scarcity-then you probably shouldn’t be buying at all!

Thoughts Are Things!

January 27th, 2010

“I hold it true that thoughts are things;
They’re endowed with bodies and breath and wings:
And that we send them forth to fill
The world with good results or ill.
That which we call our secret thought
Speeds forth to earth’s remotest spot,
Leaving it’s blessings or it’s woes
Like tracks behind it as it goes.
We build our future thought by thought,
for good or ill yet know it not.
Yet so the universe was wrought.
Thought is another name for fate;
Choose them thy destiny and wait,
For love brings love and hate brings hate.”

Henry Van Dyke

I just love that poem. I wouldn’t have understood a bit of it 10 years ago, nor would I have probably cared…

It’s funny how life gives us just what we put out. I remember how I was an angry young man, feeling as if the world owed me something.

In retrospect, I realize how angry I was at almost everybody who had ever been in my life. What a waste!

I also didn’t have many people in my life at the time either, I wonder why. ;-)

When I really analyze it, I attracted all those experiences with my bad attitude.

See I was the youngest in my immediate family which as the saying goes shi* flows down hill. I was also the youngest of all my cousins, and frankly I don’t think any of us were getting our needs met as kids.

So I was angry about being everyone’s shi* heap, not feeling loved, and certainly feeling abandoned.

It was a tough experience, but frankly I’ve heard worse, much worse. So much worse I feel ashamed to have ever felt sorry for myself!

I don’t feel angry or sorry for myself anymore, but grateful, truly thankful to be alive. I’m so happy and grateful for so many things. I only wish I had discovered gratitude sooner! :-)

I could list all the things I’m grateful for but I don’t think I or you want a post that long; but if I were to say anything in defense of gratitude it would be that it’s part of the equation in bringing you success and happiness and the life of your dreams(unless your dreams are negative).

Every successful person I have ever talked to at length has a big attitude of gratitude, and I believe it’s an important part of a successful life if not THE most important part.

With gratitude you can overcome ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! It might be the most hideous terrible thing to ever happen, you could be hurt really bad and as long as you keep gratitude in the fore front of your mind, things can still look rosy.

Gratitude help you see the bright side of any darkness. See, I am so happy and grateful for my past, for everything that has happened to me, and life just keeps getting better and better.

Things aren’t always rosy, but I certainly have the ability to frame the things that happen in my world how I want, and gratitude enables me and frees me up to see the light in any situation.

I heard a story about W. Clement Stone, who at one time was the richest man in america, and he had a process he called his ‘That’s Good Therapy’. Whenever anything ‘bad’ happened he would say outloud:
‘That’s Good’. Didn’t matter what it was, he refused to let life get him down!

And sure enough he always found the good in those situations. So look around you, are there things in your life that might not be the most positive? Can you look for something good about them?

Say you lost your job, and have no income coming in; the good might be that you have the time to start your own company, or build a new resume, or learn a new skill. It could be anything.

It’s not always the easiest to see the good in the ‘bad’, but if you look I think you will always find something.

If you are having trouble finding the good, ask yourself: “what’s the worst that could happen?” “Do I really think that will happen?” Most likely we are just letting our minds run away with themselves in worry.

You could also use the ‘Cosmic Iceball Theory’ which goes: ‘In a few million years this planet is just going to be a big iceball floating in space so what will this moment matter-really’.

Might sound over simplified, but life goes on and we shouldn’t sweat the small stuff! And as the book says “it’s all small stuff”.

I hope that this post helps some of you, as it’s my goal in life to help inspire others to success in thier lives.

Thank You! To Your Ultimate Success! Jonathan

Why Do You Put Up With It?

January 25th, 2010

“If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn’t sit for a month.”
Unknown

I ask the question-Why?

Why put up with lack and limitation? With your current circumstances? Why believe that you can’t have what you want? And Why make excuses for these limitations?

See, people make excuses for why they can’t do something and it usually goes something like this: I can’t because I can’t afford it, I don’t think that way, I’m not that good, I don’t know how…

Much of it comes from our conditioning, what we were taught from our parents, grandparents, what our friends told us, and much of it is unconscious, especially the paradigms we learn from our parents. We unconsciously pick up the other persons thoughts. We do it all the time! We pick up mannerisms, beliefs about money, and I believe even health concerns.

Now I’ve got 2 little boys at home, so I take this very seriously. I realize that they are picking up not only my actions and words, but my conscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings. I know they do. In the bible it says: ‘know that before you speak, I will hear you’, and I believe that pertains to all of us, we often know what a person is going to say before they speak.

For example: Have you ever had a song in your head that you know that you haven’t heard in years and then you start humming it and the person next to you says ‘I’ve had that song going through my mind all day’, or you say something that the person you’re with was just about to say when you said it first?

The problem sometimes is we aren’t clear enough in ourselves to identify which are our thoughts…
Have you ever asked yourself: ‘Where’d that thought come from?’

Why not direct and choose your thoughts? If you’re not consciously choosing them you’re accepting what’s there by default, which is most likely the paradigms you were fed as a child.

So what are your thoughts of? Self defeating, or life affirming? If you’re telling yourself you can’t do something, it’s a lie and IT’S NOT THE TRUTH!!! So why put up with that crap?

You might think it’s the truth, your current circumstances, but I could say you’re the most powerful(lame, nice, attractive, ugly-whatever adjective you choose) person I’d ever met and if you believed it then it it’s the truth for you. You see you can decide what’s true to you. You can decide you’re wealthy long before it makes it’s apperance in your life. ‘Henry Ford once said: “Whether you think you can or can’t, either way you’re right”. So why not choose your own ‘truth’ that your beautiful, rich, fill in the blank…

I remember a conversation I had with a spiritual teacher who was talking about a member of our spiritual community that was of average looks, but she believed she pretty, and so she always had men around her wanting to date her. She had the inner belief which superceded the outer and THAT determined her result.

You’re in control of your thoughts! It’s just that most don’t want to believe it.

Your thoughts are what put you in the place you are currently in-if it’s a great place then wonderful keep thinking those thoughts. But if it’s not-change them, and start creating your world the way you want!
Decide to take responsibility for your thoughts. and for directing them to get your desired results.

I read a book awhile back, it was by Helene Hadsell and called: ‘Contesting: the name it and claim it game’ (or something like that) and it was about winning contests and essentially about manifesting life.

Well she had this acronym for her manifesting process and it was SPEC, which was: Select it, Project it, Expect it, and Collect it.

I thought it was pure genious! I mean that is the process of all manifesting-except most people do it unconsciously. Since they do it unconsciousl then they get results that they don’t like or are marginal at best.

See, what we’re thinking is what we’re manifesting in our lives. If you’re worried about not having enough money, eventually you won’t; if you’re holding thoughts of prosperity and abundance in your mind that is what will show up. Spirit is always moving into form. We are souls that have physical bodies.

So with this SPEC process you first have to consciously decide and select what you want, then get it in your minds eye and ‘project it’, give it life, meditate on it, and then Expect it. Now that’s where I think most people get hung up is in the ‘Expect it’ part. I mean how do you ‘Expect it’ if you have no way of knowing how you’re going to get there?

So what happens to probably 95-98% of people is they give up or don’t try at all to change their circumstances. They just accept their current circumstances and believe that’s the life destined for them.

They haven’t learned persistence or faith, or the proper use of their minds in thinking. Now if you take care of the first three parts of the equation then the last part-Collecting it will be the result!

Have you ever met someone who just goes along with the crowd? Joins the army because all his buddies do, stays at a job they hate, because they think that’s all they can do, or someone tells them that having a business is risky so they never try?

Or have you ever had an experience where you just KNOW that you’re going to succeed? Do you know a person who has this faith in themselves? Who seem to always move forward confidently and know where they’re going? They Expect it!

It all starts with a thought! Everything! The car you drive, your house, the money in your bank account, are all there because someone thought them into form. Now they had to take action to make them, but it stared with a thought.

Now what I’m getting at is that it is very important to work at your own self development. Your own self awareness. To be aware of the thoughts you are putting out to the universe, as they will come back to you in form.

It’s like planting a seed(thought) in fertile land(mind), you will grow what you plant. So if you plant poison ivy seeds(negative thoughts) in the land(your mind), you will get poison ivy(negative results), and the same holds true for positive thoughts.

So stop beating yourself down, telling yourself you can’t, and give yourself a gift of great thoughts, a pat on the back and congratulate yourself on how wonderful you are.

You are truly a gift to the world, so start acting the part! :-)

Inspirational Quote of the Day

January 22nd, 2010

“You will very likely run up against a series of circumstances that will, for a time, almost have you convinced you are actually going backwards; but, persistence is the key. Continue to hold the picture of personal prosperity and understand that what is happening to you, is what must happen, to prepare you to receive the good you desire.” Bob Proctor in ‘You Were Born Rich’
