January 25th, 2010Why Do You Put Up With It?
January 25th, 2010“If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn’t sit for a month.”
Unknown
I ask the question-Why?
Why put up with lack and limitation? With your current circumstances? Why believe that you can’t have what you want? And Why make excuses for these limitations?
See, people make excuses for why they can’t do something and it usually goes something like this: I can’t because I can’t afford it, I don’t think that way, I’m not that good, I don’t know how…
Much of it comes from our conditioning, what we were taught from our parents, grandparents, what our friends told us, and much of it is unconscious, especially the paradigms we learn from our parents. We unconsciously pick up the other persons thoughts. We do it all the time! We pick up mannerisms, beliefs about money, and I believe even health concerns.
Now I’ve got 2 little boys at home, so I take this very seriously. I realize that they are picking up not only my actions and words, but my conscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings. I know they do. In the bible it says: ‘know that before you speak, I will hear you’, and I believe that pertains to all of us, we often know what a person is going to say before they speak.
For example: Have you ever had a song in your head that you know that you haven’t heard in years and then you start humming it and the person next to you says ‘I’ve had that song going through my mind all day’, or you say something that the person you’re with was just about to say when you said it first?
The problem sometimes is we aren’t clear enough in ourselves to identify which are our thoughts…
Have you ever asked yourself: ‘Where’d that thought come from?’
Why not direct and choose your thoughts? If you’re not consciously choosing them you’re accepting what’s there by default, which is most likely the paradigms you were fed as a child.
So what are your thoughts of? Self defeating, or life affirming? If you’re telling yourself you can’t do something, it’s a lie and IT’S NOT THE TRUTH!!! So why put up with that crap?
You might think it’s the truth, your current circumstances, but I could say you’re the most powerful(lame, nice, attractive, ugly-whatever adjective you choose) person I’d ever met and if you believed it then it it’s the truth for you. You see you can decide what’s true to you. You can decide you’re wealthy long before it makes it’s apperance in your life. ‘Henry Ford once said: “Whether you think you can or can’t, either way you’re right”. So why not choose your own ‘truth’ that your beautiful, rich, fill in the blank…
I remember a conversation I had with a spiritual teacher who was talking about a member of our spiritual community that was of average looks, but she believed she pretty, and so she always had men around her wanting to date her. She had the inner belief which superceded the outer and THAT determined her result.
You’re in control of your thoughts! It’s just that most don’t want to believe it.
Your thoughts are what put you in the place you are currently in-if it’s a great place then wonderful keep thinking those thoughts. But if it’s not-change them, and start creating your world the way you want!
Decide to take responsibility for your thoughts. and for directing them to get your desired results.
I read a book awhile back, it was by Helene Hadsell and called: ‘Contesting: the name it and claim it game’ (or something like that) and it was about winning contests and essentially about manifesting life.
Well she had this acronym for her manifesting process and it was SPEC, which was: Select it, Project it, Expect it, and Collect it.
I thought it was pure genious! I mean that is the process of all manifesting-except most people do it unconsciously. Since they do it unconsciousl then they get results that they don’t like or are marginal at best.
See, what we’re thinking is what we’re manifesting in our lives. If you’re worried about not having enough money, eventually you won’t; if you’re holding thoughts of prosperity and abundance in your mind that is what will show up. Spirit is always moving into form. We are souls that have physical bodies.
So with this SPEC process you first have to consciously decide and select what you want, then get it in your minds eye and ‘project it’, give it life, meditate on it, and then Expect it. Now that’s where I think most people get hung up is in the ‘Expect it’ part. I mean how do you ‘Expect it’ if you have no way of knowing how you’re going to get there?
So what happens to probably 95-98% of people is they give up or don’t try at all to change their circumstances. They just accept their current circumstances and believe that’s the life destined for them.
They haven’t learned persistence or faith, or the proper use of their minds in thinking. Now if you take care of the first three parts of the equation then the last part-Collecting it will be the result!
Have you ever met someone who just goes along with the crowd? Joins the army because all his buddies do, stays at a job they hate, because they think that’s all they can do, or someone tells them that having a business is risky so they never try?
Or have you ever had an experience where you just KNOW that you’re going to succeed? Do you know a person who has this faith in themselves? Who seem to always move forward confidently and know where they’re going? They Expect it!
It all starts with a thought! Everything! The car you drive, your house, the money in your bank account, are all there because someone thought them into form. Now they had to take action to make them, but it stared with a thought.
Now what I’m getting at is that it is very important to work at your own self development. Your own self awareness. To be aware of the thoughts you are putting out to the universe, as they will come back to you in form.
It’s like planting a seed(thought) in fertile land(mind), you will grow what you plant. So if you plant poison ivy seeds(negative thoughts) in the land(your mind), you will get poison ivy(negative results), and the same holds true for positive thoughts.
So stop beating yourself down, telling yourself you can’t, and give yourself a gift of great thoughts, a pat on the back and congratulate yourself on how wonderful you are.
You are truly a gift to the world, so start acting the part!

Why Should You Care? An Argument for Personal Development
January 23rd, 2010“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.”
Michelangelo
I was asked this question recently: Why should I care about working on myself?
I was a little suprised by the question, I wanted to ask ‘Why WOULDN”T you be interested?’
Every successful, self actualized person of merit I have ever met or studied has first and formost worked on themselves.
An example in my own life: I’m a father of 2 very precious, sensitive, beautiful, rambunctious boys. Alexander just turned 5, and his little brother is about to turn 3.
Now these guys both have radically different personalities. One is more willing to jump into life, adventurous, and wanting to get along, the other is more reserved, a little more provocative, can be extermely stubborn, and sometime has raging fits.
I love them both so incredibly much and yet I get my butt kicked daily! I think of myself as someone who has done alot of work on myself, but there are days when I want to strangle them…
I can tell you that if I had had kids 20 years ago, then I’d probably have been the kind of father that no one would want. I’m glad I waited! I now have goals around what kind of father, husband, and person I want to be, and work toward that everyday.
I feel that everyday I grow by leaps and bounds, and this is by design. Yet still I often fail at being the person I want to be. I occasionally loose my temper and yell at them, snap at the littlest thing…
Now even though I fail, I do my best to pick up where I was and move ahead, apologize if needed(often) and do my best to stay out of drama, out of ‘poor me syndrome’, and do my best to not beat myself up about it.
One of my growth exercises when I notice myself getting angry, or reviewing a old lame-O memories of fear, scarcity, anger is to go inside, Tell myself: ‘I love you, I’m sorry, please forgive me, and thank you!’
Now I didn’t make this up myself-I’m not that smart
I stole it from a process called Hooponopono. it’s a hawaiian healing process, that basically states EVERYTHING that comes into my experience I’m responsible for, and just the act of witnessing something(even something that happens to someone else) that somehow I have a RESPONSE-ABILITY toward it. So by cleaning it up out of my own consciousness then it in turn is cleansed in the other person.
I constantly work to consciously look at myself, to analyze what I’m feeling and why, and how to get different results if they weren’t the ones I was looking for. So when I’m starting to get flustered with my boys, and I am able to remember to do the hooponopono process on myself, then things go much smoother, they don’t argue with each other as much and the end result is that I feel better and am more able to focus on being the peson I strive to be. I reach the center of myself and am able to be grounded in peace.
Now if you don’t have goals, or desire to be better, to live a happier, more fulfilled life then I say you’re probably not going anywhere. You’re probably not very happy or successful either.
Even the most successful and happy people I know are always striving, always wanting things to be better, to have greater successes, I do, and everyone I’ve ever met does too(but some aren’t willing to take action and I believe somehow LIKE where they are).
If you’re unhappy use it as a motivator. A motivator into a better life-just as the successful people do. You know that’s the great thing about contrast, the things that suck in your life, is that not only do you have the ability to change them, but they can drive you to great heights-if you let them-if you decide to put them in the proper light and think about them in a positive manner.
There is no stopping point to striving for a better life. If it’s not getting better everyday then you’re probably regressing, going backward in life. There is only forward or backwards as the world is constantly moving.
The universe wants you to LIVE, to CREATE, to GROW in everyway and to find your life’s purpose and expression.
It’s been said by many people that you’re a unique person, nobody like you in the whole world. Nobody thinks, looks, feels, or does things exactly like you. Isn’t that great?
Now I’m a great believer of taking action and going for what you want. Who cares if you fail? The secret is nobody will really care one way or the other, and if they do then that’s none of your business. Another secret is you should hope to fail, because every failure means you’re that much closer to success(as long a you learn from your failures).
I want to share with you some of the steps I utilize in my life to achieve success.
First have gratitude for every thing and every moment, then ask yourself what it is you want in all areas of your life, next set goals to attain them, next figure out the action steps that will get you there and implement them, then start the whole process over again then review and take action daily.
One other thing I want to point out is to watch your thoughts because thoughts become things, those things become your actions, which create your habits and results, so think positive thoughts. Thoughts that start with: I can, I will, That’s great because, I’m awesome, Your wonderful, whatever, so long as it pumps you up and makes you feel great.
That’s it. It truly is simple if you let it be.

Bhutanese Wisdom-Important Must Read!
January 18th, 2010“In a mountain village named Laya, I was standing in a school house and staring at a document entitled ‘Manual for Teachers of Mathematics’. What caught my eye is something that is offered as a ‘first rule’: ‘Always remember that you are a human being as well as a teacher, that your students are also human beings, and that you are here because you have something important to give them that they need.’ ”
Lonely Planet’s Bhutan
Wow, I had to read that several times.
I felt the message was of great importance.
I know it is one of immense wisdom, and I felt that it addresses a great truth in one’s dealings in the world.
Whether it’s family, friends, business associates, clients, or someone off the street; they have come into your life because you have something important to give them that they need…
And they have something important to give to you also.
It can be an incredibly valuable experience meeting another human being and just BEING with them and exchanging your gifts; whether they be friendship, a kind word, a helping hand, an exchange of money for services rendered…
As a person who aspires to inspire and help others succeed in life, I found the quote quite humbling as it really made me think about all the ways I communicate with the world.
I know I can be in a hurry at times and not take the time to be friendly with the cashier at the grocery store, or in a rush in traffic, or not really give my ALL and be personal in a blog post or email-it does seem somewhat impersonal at times…
If I can stop and remind myself at the other end of the computer screen, counter, or another vehicle in traffic, is a living breathing person with their own wants, desires and needs, then perhaps I have just found a place of mutual compassion and understanding.
A depth and place of meeting that will enable true comunication-even if no words are exchanged.
I intend to incorporate this wisdom into my life, and I hope that you do too!

January 17th, 2010A real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken a new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided.”

It’s All God Stuff!
January 10th, 2010“If you embrace the present and become one with it, you will experience a fire, a glow, a sparkle of ecstasy throbbing in every living sentient being. As you begin to experience this exultation of spirit in everything that is alive, as you become intimate with it, joy will be born within you, and you will drop the terrible burdens and encumbrances of defensiveness, resentment, and hurtfulness. Only then will you become lighthearted, carefree, joyous, and free.” Depak Chopra in ‘The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success’
I once heard a story about a boy who being quite HIGH On God described watching his mother breast feed his little sibling, he said: “it was like watching God pour God into God”.
This is what Quantum Theory is also telling us, it’s all energy! Our thoughts, our bodies, money, the chair you’re sitting on-are all energy/source/The Law of Attraction/God/vibration/atoms in motion-whatever analogy you feel most comfortable with.
It’s all made of the same stuff!
So if there’s anything in your experience you’re not happy with, the question arises ‘How am I to be present with this, and how am I responsible for this?’
I was once told by a shaman when I remarked that something wasn’t my problem(even though it bothered me) that it was someone else’s and it was ‘out there’; he replied: “There is no ‘out there’, it’s all inside”.
I other words, everything in my experience I am somehow responsible for by the shear fact that I am experiencing it, I’m vibrating with it and at the same level as it. I am Attracting it!
Radical concept! I can tell you I didn’t like it one bit! That I’m somehow responsible for what happens in my life? Preposterous!
Then years later I heard about ‘The Law of Attraction’ and it all started to make sense, although I can tell you, it still sometimes irks me when the world comes up and bites me on the butt.
I have also found out that when I’m present with these things, they aren’t so terrible, they loose their power and don’t seem so frightening.
So part of my process of surviving and thriving is to always come beck into my body and be present, and focus on who I am, where I’m going and experience as much joy as I can.
In this way I hope to transform not only my experience of life as joyous, but also spread joy to the world!
